Elementary Academic Standards

ACADEMIC STANDARDS

Elementary students are encouraged to excel in all aspects of their educational life. The academic grading scale is as follows:

Students in grades 3-6 achieving high academic standards are eligible for the Honor Roll and look forward to being recognized for their academic achievements at the end of each term. Students who maintain Honor Roll status for three terms during the school year will receive an Honor Certificate in June. The Grade Point Average (GPA) is used for the criteria for the Honor Roll and it is divided into three divisions:

The Principal’s Honor Roll consists of students who have achieved a G.P.A. of 3.700 or above with no subject below A.
The High Honor Roll consists of students, not on the Principal’s Honor Roll, who have achieved a G.P.A. of 3.400 and above with no subject with a grade less than B.
The Honor Roll consists of students who have achieved a G.P.A. of 3.000 to 3.399, with no subject with a grade less than C.

Like most local schools, students are expected to take the Grade Level Assessment Test (GLAT) in grades 3 and 6. These standardized exams are cultivated and provided by the Ministry of Education in an effort to determine each student’s academic performance at a national level. GLAT typically occurs during the month of May.
